But getting out of the Internal synthesizer perfectly good as far as it goes was another big workaround. Eventually I created a soft synth instrument track, exported it to audio, then used SoundForge to combine that mono track with the audio track I was already using as Modulator, into a single stereo track. There's probably a way to bounce them properly in Sonar, just couldn't find it, and besides I had some moving and nudging to get the parts to line up right.
Then I re-Imported my strange Stereo track strange because L and R channels are completely independent. I still can't Sidechain. There's a selection for it in both Modulator and Carrier, but I can't figure out how to rout to it.
